Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed on Thursday evening that Paul Pogba had recovered from an injury to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The 25-year-old was not included in the squad for Reading last weekend after suffering a nasty high challenge from Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.
He missed the opening day of Manchester United’s warm weather training camp in Dubai this week but was training with the squad like normal from Tuesday.
Speaking at a press conference after returning to Manchester, Solskjaer confirmed Pogba was indeed ready for Sunday’s massive clash with Tottenham.
“He [Pogba] looked okay towards the end [of the training camp], so he’ll be fit,” he said. “He did have some problems but he came through the last couple of sessions well, so he should be okay.”
Man United do have a chance against Spurs and it is because of Pogba.
His performance in last season’s FA Cup semi-final against Mauricio Pochettino’s team altered the momentum of proceedings after a stilted start by United. He has the potential to quite literally drive his team forward.
And he will have to do that at Wembley from minute one, with Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford creating space for him further up the field.
In a team where Pogba finally has the permission to play on his own terms, this clash serves as a tantalising test of what the Frenchman can do.
