Manchester United were outclassed by their blue neighbours in Sunday’s derby at the Ethiad, losing 3-1 to fall ten points off top spot after 12 games.
Jose Mourinho’s men started poorly, sitting way too far back as David Silva opened the scoring, before mounting something of a resurgence until half time.
Sergio Aguero’s goal three minutes after the break doubled the lead for the hosts. And while Anthony Martial‘s penalty on 58 minutes – his sixth goal in five games – gave Man United hope, they never looked capable of grabbing an equaliser, with City emphasising their dominance by scoring a truly wonderful team goal towards the end.
