New statistics have been released which may explain why Arsenal could only manage a draw with Crystal Palace on Sunday.
It was hugely disappointing to see Arsenal’s winning run come to an end on Sunday afternoon with the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.
The Gunners had won their previous eleven matches going into the game at Selhurst Park but were undone by the two penalties which they conceded.
What was most disappointing for Unai Emery was his side’s attacking performance and now, some statistics have been published may give an insight as to why that happened.
That stats show that Mesut Ozil received the ball just seven times from his midfield duo against Crystal Palace compared to a whopping 24 times in the previous match against Leicester City.
Mesut Ozil received seven passes from Torreira and Guendouzi yesterday (4+3), compared to 24 from Xhaka and Torreira against Leicester (15+9). But obviously the problem was pashun.

The absence of Granit Xhaka from the midfield was a large reason as to why the Gunners drew with the Swiss international filling in at left-back.
It’s an interesting statistic. Much of Arsenal’s attacking play relies on Granit Xhaka feeding the ball into Mesut Ozil where the German can turn and bring the other attacking players into the match. Once those passing lanes were cut off, the Gunners struggled to get their front four involved.
