Rio Ferdinand has lambasted Barcelona’s ludicrous bid to prize Paul Pogba away from Manchester United.
The La Liga champions, according to the Daily Mail, have offered a cash sum of £45m plus fringe players Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes in exchange for Pogba.
Man United have, of course, turned down such a laughable offer, presumably encouraged by the player’s agent Mino Raiola.
Ferdinand has taken to Twitter to slam the idea of United’s best outfield player leaving, and encouraged the club to sign Toby Alderweireld.
Don’t you dare allow this ED… #MUFC is Pogba’s home!! Silence these rumours ASAP & get @AlderweireldTob through the door

The timing of this development is curious to say the least. Why would Barcelona, who knew Andres Iniesta was leaving in May, wait to make a bid for his long term replacement until now, two days before United would no longer be able to sign a replacement?
And why, on top of that, would they suddenly launch a fully fledged bid to sign Pogba right after signing midfielder Arturo Vidal from Bayern Munich? Arthur Melo is another midfielder they have brought in this year. Why the sudden interest in such a high profile star.
Either way, the sheer insanity of the offer on the table precludes the possibility of Pogba going anywhere. United simply value him much, much more than that.
