Juventus defender Daniele Rugani’s agent has been discussing the reports linking his client with a summer switch to Chelsea.
Speaking to the Italian press, as reported by Football London, the centre-back’s representative Davide Torchia gave little away over Rugani’s future but hinted that Chelsea’s interest in signing him is genuine.
The Blues’ summer business has been halted somewhat as a result of the confusion surrounding the managerial position at the club.
Antonio Conte has been expected to get the boot since the end of the season, with the Blues sounding out numerous managerial candidates. However, the Italian has still not been relieved of his duties.
Maurizio Sarri is likely to be the man who steps into the hot-seat ahead of next season, and Rugani’s agent indicated that Chelsea’s pursuit of the ex-Napoli boss would be a determining factor in their pursuit of the player.
It is obvious to say that the Sarri question must first be resolved, then proceed with the negotiations and make them more or less concrete.
Rugani is not expected to come cheaply, with Juventus likely to demand in excess of £35 million for the Italian international.
