Pundit claims Pogba won't be a starter for France in World Cup

Frank Leboeuf has claimed rather bravely that he doesn’t expect Paul Pogba to start for France in the World Cup.

The comments come after Didier Deschamps demanded the Frenchman to raise his game as the debate on his talent rages on.

A lot of people recognise Pogba’s talents but they complain about numerous other things such as his consistency, his social media presence and even his haircuts.

The list goes on but Deschamps is clearly a fan of the talented midfielder and has been starting him in most of the European nation’s games.

Leboeuf though believes there’s other players in the France squad who are currently ahead of him in the pecking order.

According to ESPN, Frank said: “He’s under lots of pressure and he’s been heavily criticised [in the media]. I don’t think he’s going to start against the United States on Saturday and I’m not sure he’s going to start in the World Cup.

“[Corentin] Tolisso is above him on the left side. I think [Blaise] Matuidi is above him. I mean [he] has the talent, but we don’t see it for the national team for the past two or three years.

“Pogba talks about winning the Ballon d’Or and put himself in the situation where right now he cannot [back up] what he says.

“I think he’s a good guy and I think he has the talent, but he puts too much pressure on himself saying he wants to be the Ballon d’Or, that he was the key of the national team, that he wants to be the No. 1. Just don’t say anything, just work hard.”

If France want to have any hopes of winning the World Cup then they know that Paul Pogba would be the key to that.

Didier wasn’t criticising his player and was instead demanding more from him which is something that’s pretty normal for top talents.

Pogba is definitely aiming to have an excellent time in Russia this summer so that he heads into his third season back at Manchester United in fine form to dethrone Manchester City as the current Premier League champions.
