Talks between Manchester United and Tottenham have reportedly stalled because the club are unwilling to meet Toby Alderweireld’s asking price.
The Belgian international was expected to make the switch sooner than later but it’s clear negotiations have stalled for one reason or the other.
It’s said that the London club are asking for too much money and United are unwilling to cough up the cash to get their man.
There’s clearly a valuation issue with both clubs valuing Alderweireld differently and it could see a breakdown in communication.
Jose Mourinho is unlikely to be happy with Ed Woodward’s reluctance to seal the deal but for now things haven’t advanced enough to see a breakthrough.
According to Stretty News, the Independent report that the Red Devils will walk away from negotiations if a compromise can’t be reached for Toby with Spurs said to want around £75m while Jose is only willing to part with £55m.
The 29 year old only really has one more big contract left in his career and it could be why Manchester United don’t want to spend such a huge figure.
£75m is around the same price Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk but he’s also younger in his age to help add value.
