Duncan Castles has claimed Manchester United star David de Gea will not be allowed to leave to Real Madrid this summer.
The Spanish giants have once more been linked with a move for the goalkeeper and with Zinedine Zidane’s sudden departure, things have been a little chaotic.
There’s no telling just who they will sign but De Gea’s agent met with the club’s president which is what sparked the rumours back into life.
The Spaniard’s desire to return to his home nation is not a hidden one but Jose Mourinho had previously insisted that United will not sell their best players.
Castles believes the Portuguese manager will stick to his word, at least for one more season if not more.
According to the Sport Review, Duncan said on the Transfer Window podcast: “Man United and Mourinho will resist. I expect Madrid to target their resources elsewhere.
“He stays one more season at least at Man United.”
The need for the Red Devils to keep David is of the utmost importance if they want to challenge for the Premier League let alone the Champions League.
Mourinho’s bold statement came after the former Atletico Madrid man was a little more willing to comment on his future.
De Gea’s consistent reassurance to fans that he’s happy at Manchester United is better than how he used to leave the door more open for Madrid.
