Duncan Castles has claimed that Manchester United are definitely interested in signing Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.
The versatile attacker’s future has been thrown up into the air by Zinedine Zidane’s shock departure as well as his own statements.
Bale said following his brace in the Champions League final that he needed to be playing week in and week out which wasn’t happening at Madrid.
Of course the Welshman could just be making a point that if he doesn’t get the football he wants then he will leave but United’s interest is genuine according to Castles.
Jose Mourinho had insisted he has no interest in changing his attacking players and is instead focusing on midfielders and defenders in the summer.
According to the Sport Review, Duncan said on the Transfer Window podcast: “Man United are definitely interested [in Bale].
“Mourinho tried to sign him last summer. Bale resisted and didn’t do anything to help or facilitate a move.
“If Real Madrid say yes to it, which they are likely to, and Bale says yes to it, which is undecided, Man United will need to redraw their transfer plans.
“They didn’t plan to sign an attacking player of his status.”
So far Mourinho’s signings have been true to his word with Fred being a midfielder and Diogo Dalot a full-back on either flank.
Though the Red Devils’ fan base have been pleased with the work done so far, there’s only less than a week left to the World Cup with no top signings made.
Jose was said to have wanted to complete his club’s transfers before the biggest competition in international football started but it seems unlikely to happen now.
