Manchester City and Arsenal managers Pep Guardiola and Arsene Wenger have sent their well wishes to former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who is seriously ill in hospital.
Ferguson, 76, was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery on a brain haemorrhage on Saturday morning and is now in intensive care.
Guardiola and Wenger are both good friends of Ferguson’s, the former was considered as a candidate to replace the legendary Scot at Old Trafford when he retired in 2013, and both men had emotional words to say about him following their matches on Sunday.
After finally lifting the Premier League trophy following a 0-0 draw against Huddersfield Town at the Etihad Stadium, Guardiola, alongside Brian Kidd, said: “Brian Kidd, who is here now, was with [Sir Alex Ferguson] for a lot of time. So a big hug and our thoughts are with his wife Cathy and the Manchester United family. I was glad to have dinner with him two weeks ago, and hopefully, he can recover as quickly as possible.”
Arsene Wenger also sent his love to Ferguson following his final home match as Arsenal manager, a 5-0 thumping of Burnley, and started his press conference by stating: “Before I start I just want to say that at Arsenal we care and I would like to wish my fellow manager Ferguson well, very quickly.”
The whole football world has poured in tributes for Sir Alex Ferguson and hopefully he will be back fit and healthy quickly.
