Player ratings: Man United complete incredible comeback, Pogba sensational

David de Gea 7 – Paved the way for Manchester City’s second but made up for it with yet another world class save from Sergio Aguero right at the end. World class

Antonio Valencia 6 – Needlessly gave away a corner for Man City’s opener but comfortably coped with the threat of Leroy Sane.

Eric Bailly 6 – Looked all at sea in the first half, his positioning completely wrong, but came out in the second half with a different attitude.

Chris Smalling 7 – Once again beaten by Vincent Kompany at a corner and poor in the first half. But that goal to put Manchester United ahead made up for it. What a moment.

Ashley Young 6 – Struggled initially with the movement of Raheem Sterling but grew in confidence on the ball as the game went on. Very lucky to not give away a penalty after scything down Aguero.

Nemanja Matic 7 – Caught in possession too often in the first half but moved the ball around with intent and precision, allowing for Paul Pogba to go forward and effect the game.

Ander Herrera 7 – This was the Herrera we have so dearly missed this season: covering every inch of grass, in the face of opponent, winning the ball endlessly. An absolute warrior.

Paul Pogba 8 – United needed somebody to step up in the second half and the Frenchman, amid talk of his hair and agent, stepped up and did exactly that in brilliant fashion, scoring two wonderful goals and turning the tide of the encounter.

Jesse Lingard 6 – Completely non-existent during the opening stages but took up some excellent positions in the second period. Could have got on the ball more.

Alexis Sanchez 7 – Looked clueless positionally in the first half, but then something changed in the first half. Produced an excellent run for United’s first and then stood up a lovely ball for Pogba’s equaliser.

Romelu Lukaku 6 – Didn’t see a lot of the ball in either half, but once again applied himself ruthlessly. Always gives everything.
