AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho has his heart set on joining Manchester United in the summer, according to reports.
The Brazilian midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford last year but was not allowed to leave following the departures of Tiemoue Bakayoko, Benjamin Mendy, Bernardo Silva and Kylian Mbappe.
Fabinho has been notably vocal in his frustration at the club’s refusal to grant him a move away and will undoubtedly find a new club in the summer.
And according to the Sun‘s Warren Haughton, Fabinho – valued at around £55m – has asked agent Jorge Mendes, who has a close relationship with Jose Mourinho, to push through a move to Old Trafford in the summer.
We ought to treat talk surrounding Fabinho with a pinch of salt given the fact that, unlike most players, he is guaranteed to leave his club this summer, which makes talk of a United move somewhat inevitable.
That said, Mourinho would be extremely wise to bring in a player with such stature and experience on the pitch. He would provide an added source of momentum going forward, striding up and down the pitch in gazelle-like fashion, whilst adding some vital cover for Antonio Valencia at right-back.
