Swansea boss claims Mourinho likes to fight with people

Swansea boss Carlos Carvalhal has claimed that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho likes to fight and confront with people.

The Portuguese coach has been in the media’s spotlight of late for his public ‘spats’ with Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba.

Critics have stated their belief that Mourinho has failed to not only bring out the best from his players but has also failed to man manage them correctly.

The former Chelsea boss has never been one to back down from a fight and is known for his ‘aggressive’ approach to his players.

Carvalhal though believes that Jose is at his best when he’s fighting and backed his methods despite all the criticism that’s come his way.

According to the Daily Star, Carlos said: “I like Mourinho and he knows that I like him. He’s very good when he is fighting.

“I studied him. I spent a week at Manchester United when Alex Ferguson was there, then a week watching Mourinho at Chelsea. I also went to Real Madrid.

“I tried to learn with the best. He has a big self-confidence, like I do. You need that. But he is a completely different personality to me.

“He likes confrontation. He likes to fight with people. And he’s very good when he is fighting. I am completely different. I like to keep far away from the fight.

“I like to win, but, if someone tries to fight with me, they will find they are fighting with themselves.”

Keen observers of Jose Mourinho have pointed out that he only confronts players who he has faith in order to get a reaction out of them which seems to have some truth to it.

The former Real Madrid manager has clearly lost his faith in Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind, who are both expected to leave Old Trafford this summer, but has never really criticised either of them in a way similar to the aforementioned players.

If he really didn’t have any hopes for Pogba or Shaw he would’ve certainly just left them out of the first team and ignored them entirely rather than testing them and involving them in matches.

Whether either player can respond and rise to the occasion is yet to be seen but it’s reported that both their futures are at risk.
