Man Utd loanee insists he's enjoyed his time at Crystal Palace

Manchester United youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah insists he has appreciated his time at Crystal Palace and has gained plenty of experience.

The Dutchman was sent out on loan to the London club at the start of the season with Jose Mourinho seemingly not having any space for him in the current squad.

Fosu-Mensah has impressed during his loan spell though and he’s expected to return to United ready for first team action.

There are a couple of positions he could slot into such as central midfield or central defence but reports tout him with a future as Antonio Valencia‘s understudy.

The Ecuadorian is the Red Devils’ first choice in that position currently but perhaps the youngster could give him a run for his money.

According to Croydon Advertiser, Timothy said to Manchester United’s official website: “Every week, you have to perform. It’s a battle, a big battle, and we try to stay positive.

“It’s good for me to be involved in this situation. I’ve learned more about the games in the Premier League and how tough it can be, mostly. I have enjoyed it here.”

Mourinho though may consider playing Timothy Fosu-Mensah in central midfield next season given the lack of options next season.

In defence Manchester United are pretty much sorted, at least number wise although quality wise they could do with an upgrade.

Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo all represent the current options in defence with an improving Axel Tuanzebe also set to return next season.

Given Jose’s preference the 4-2-3-1 formation then there are too many defenders at the club with a few set to departure in the summer.

Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic represent the club’s midfielders though the first two have contracts expiring at the end of the season.

This means there could be room for him there though learning from Valencia is hardly a bad thing and he’s far more likely to play in the right back position than central midfield.
