Ashley Young is thought to be frustrated with BT Sport’s overly zealous coverage of his elbow on Dusan Tadic during Manchester United’s 0-0 draw with Southampton last weekend.
Footage emerged of the 32-year-old digging an elbow into Tadic’s midriff as the Saints took a corner in the second half.
He has since accepted a violent conduct charge from the FA and will return to action for Man United’s visit to Burnley on January 20.
And according to M.E.N‘s Samuel Luckhurst, Young is frustrated at the way BT magnified the incident straight afterwards and caused the FA to launch an immediate investigation.
His anger stems from the fact that such altercations are commonplace in the Premier League and aren’t always picked up by the gaze of the public. Neither Tadic or Southampton complained about the flashpoint for that very reason: this is just what happens.
Anybody who has played football at any relatively competitive level would have probably worn a few of these, and possibly dished some out as well.
And while that notion alone doesn’t excuse the fact that what Young did was, according to the book, ‘violent’ to an extent, you can partly understand his frustration at the way this small, inconsequential exchange has been warped, while the likes of Dele Alli and Jason Puncheon go unpunished for literally trying to break an opponent’s leg.
