Guardian journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated that Manchester United have “no chance” of signing Napoli midfielder Jorginho.
Jose Mourinho is on the lookout for midfield reinforcements ahead of the summer in order to replace Michael Carrick, who will join the coaching staff next season, and possibly Marouane Fellaini.
Jorginho’s agent ruled out a January move earlier this month but reports from Italy recently claimed that Man United representatives had held talks with Napoli regarding a potential summer move.
But Romano, who was one of the first to report on Man United’s interest in Alexis Sanchez, has reiterated that there was no chance of Jorginho moving anywhere over the next couple of days.

This is hardly striking news, especially after Mourinho confirmed last week that there would be no more signings in January, but it does nonetheless suggest that there is indeed something there regarding Jorginho.
And there aren’t many better candidates to step into Carrick’s shoes for the 2018/19 campaign. At the age of 26, Jorginho currently finds himself in the prime years of his career and averages a passing accuracy of 90 per cent this season – a clear indicator of his metronomic influence at the base of midfield and, more notably, an ability to hold his nerve on the ball even when moving play rapidly though the lines as Napoli do under Maurizio Sarri.
