Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Daley Blind will miss Saturday’s visit to Burnley with a “minor injury”.
Antonio Valencia and Marouane Fellaini have both returned to first team action after suffering injuries over the busy festive period, but captain Michael Carrick remains out.
Blind hasn’t started a Premier League game since August and finds himself behind Luke Shaw and Ashley Young in the pecking order, reduced to just ten starts in all competitions since the 2-0 win over Leicester City.
And Mourinho has confirmed that the Dutchman has suffered another set-back, picking up a minor injury in the lead-up to United’s clash with Sean Dyche’s men.

Up until now, Blind has always found a way to contribute at Old Trafford, occupying three different positions at points throughout his career and producing adequate displays in all of them without really ever cementing himself.
He has always felt like a surplus player – somebody who can come in and do a job when needed – but not much more than that.
And like all luxury items, components that aren’t always necessary but drawn upon from time to time, Blind has become obsolete, a relic from the Louis van Gaal era.
Where he goes from here is uncertain, but you find it hard to envisage much of a future for him at Old Trafford any longer.
