Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has lavished praise on Chelsea star Victor Moses, hailing him as “one of the best wing-backs in the world”.
The former Liverpool midfielder was full of praise for Moses following his display against Newcastle on Saturday and insisted that he is up there with the top wing-backs in world football.
As quoted by the Evening Standard, Redknapp explained just how big a difference Moses makes to how Chelsea play.
He missed a large chunk of the season with a hamstring [injury]. He makes a huge difference. With the system they play with wing-backs, he’s taught himself – and the manager’s obviously helped him – to be one of the best wing-backs in world football.
Moses, naturally a winger, had been ruled out for a prolonged period of time prior to the game against Newcastle. He sustained a damaging hamstring injury midway through October, forcing him off in Chelsea’s shock defeat away at Crystal Palace.
It suits him that position, and there’s no surprise that he was involved with the penalty, he’s involved with the goal. I thought he was brilliant [against Newcastle] and he is top class.
He has since been out of action, with summer signing Davide Zappacosta deputising on the right-hand side of the pitch in Moses’ absence.
The Nigerian international will now hope to kick on and help Chelsea to finish strongly this season.
