Manchester United have to be thinking about challenging for the UEFA Champions League title with the squad at their disposal, claims Marcus Rashford.
The young Englishman scored for the winner for the Reds in Tuesday night’ 2-1 victory against CSKA Moscow which saw Jose Mourinho’s side qualify as Group A winners with 15 points from six games.
Man United’s qualification hopes never looked in doubt as they saw off every other side in the group, including comfortable wins against FC Basel and CSKA Moscow back in September.
With the quality and depth of their squad, Rashford thinks they should be looking to winning Europe’s elite club competition this season.
“I think we have to be [challenging], we have a good squad,” Rashford said.
“This is when the squad comes into play, we have to use every player to the best of their ability.”
United do have good squad depth and have shown their big-game abilities finally under Mourinho, putting in a fantastic counter-attacking and ruthless performance against Arsenal at the weekend.
Rashford is a key part of that squad. He’s a player that Jose Mourinho trusts fully, having started as the left-winger in most big games this season. His work rate and maturity, despite only turning 20 recently, is vital in that decision.
With Rashford, Anthony Martial, Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, options in attack are endless, particularly with Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan as other options, too.
United will be looking for a long run in the UEFA Champions League after an absence of almost two years.
