Chelsea legend Graeme Le Saux has revealed that he thinks Ruben Loftus-Cheek will break into the Chelsea first-team next season as long as the attacking midfielder keeps up the good performances on loan at Crystal Palace, as per a report on the Daily Star.
The midfielder has been praised recently for his performances for Palace as well as for the senior England side in the friendly draw against Germany at Wembley.
Loftus-Cheek was awarded the Man of the Match award for an assured and confident performance.
The 21-year-old was controversially sent out on loan by Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte, with many fans and pundits questioning the decision.
However, Le Saux believes it is a good thing for Loftus-Cheek as he is getting a healthy amount of game time in the Premier League.
Loftus-Cheek’s priority now will be to continue to impress regularly at Crystal Palace. There’ll be a lot of pressure and expectation on him after his performance last week and the Eagles aren’t in the easiest position in the League so it’ll be tough.
Providing he gets his head down, he’ll give himself the opportunity to break into a Chelsea side next season.
The youngster is one of the finest talents to come out of the Chelsea youth system, with many others moving on in their careers after not being used in the first-team squad.
But with Loftus-Cheek developing so well, the Blues may promote him into the first-team instead of spending millions on a new attacking midfielder.
