Manchester United are reportedly considering backing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer financially during the winter transfer window.
The summer transfer window has only ended fairly recently but plans are already being made for January, perhaps escalated by the club’s poor start.
United initially defeated Chelsea 4-0 on opening day but have since failed to pick up a win.
A draw to Wolves was followed by a shock loss to Crystal Palace and an incredibly frustrating tie to 10-man Southampton.
It appears executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has recognised the need to invest further and rather than wait until next summer, he could do so this winter.
According to Manchester Evening News, Solskjaer met with Woodward earlier this month with the Red Devils considering making funds available to invest in a midfield lacking of top quality.
Of course there’s already been talk of the possibility of losing Paul Pogba in January and so that would certainly spell disaster for the club.
If it happens and they weren’t planning on investing in the midfield then they definitely would have to do it then.
Pogba is Manchester United’s only world-class midfielder and fans saw just how their starting XI looks like without him in the side during the early parts of pre-season.
